Airport Fees
Airport Fees are a dynamic cost designed to add economic realism and strategic depth to your operations. They help balance the in-game economy and encourage realistic flight planning. For example, high landing fees for heavy aircraft without a slot make it unprofitable to fly a large jet for a small charter job, pushing you to use the right equipment for the job.
Fees are based on the size of the airport (Large, Medium, Small, or Heliport) and are charged at different phases of a job.
Types of Airport Fees
Here is a breakdown of each fee, what it is for, and when it is charged.
Passenger Facility Charge (PFC)
This is a fee charged per passenger for the use of airport terminal facilities (security, etc.). This fee is applied when passengers board and disembark your aircraft (including between legs).
Departure Fee: Charged when you Board the aircraft. Applies to all passengers getting on the aircraft at that airport.
Arrival Fee: Charged when you Disembark at any airport where passengers leave the aircraft. Applies to all passengers leaving the aircraft at that airport.
Movement Fees (Landing & ATC)
These fees are related to the movement of your aircraft at the arrival airport and are charged as a separate outgoing payment every time you Disembark (at both stopovers and final destinations).
Landing Fee: A fee based on your aircraft's Maximum Takeoff Weight (MTOW).
Charter Jobs: Charged on every landing (stopovers and final destination).
Route Jobs: Charged only at unscheduled stopovers. It is not charged at the scheduled final destination as slot agreements cover your landing fees for scheduled services.
ATC Fee: A fee charged for air traffic control and handling services on every landing, for both Charter and Route Jobs.
Customs & Immigration Fees
This is a per-passenger fee charged when passengers Disembark at their final destination. It is only applied if the passenger crosses international borders (i.e., the passenger's original departure country is different from the arrival country).
It is not charged on unscheduled stopovers, even if the stopover is in a different country as passengers do not leave the aircraft.
Parking Fees
Parking fees are incurred when an aircraft is parked on the open tarmac at an airport. You can avoid these fees by storing your aircraft in a hangar or by parking it in a leased stand or slot.
Fees are charged based on your aircraft's Maximum Takeoff Weight (MTOW) for each company clock hour spent on the tarmac, calculated after a set grace period has expired. The total parking fee is charged as an outgoing payment when you Pushback for your next flight.
Parking rates and grace periods are now based on the airport's size.
How Fees Are Charged
Fees are not billed in a single lump sum. Instead, they are charged at specific moments during the job lifecycle to represent when passengers and aircraft use airport facilities.
Departure Fees
When you Board an aircraft for any job (both Charter and Route) that sees new passengers board your aircraft, your company is immediately charged the Departure Passenger Facility Charge (PFC).
This fee is calculated only for passengers who are newly boarding the aircraft on that specific leg; passengers already on board from a previous leg do not count. This fee is processed as an immediate outgoing payment from your company's bank account under the Airport Fees category.
Arrival & Movement Fees
When your aircraft lands and you Disembark, an arrival payment is taken, consisting of:
The Arrival Passenger Facility Charge (for all disembarking passengers)
Any applicable Customs & Immigration Fees (international passengers disembarking at their final destination)
Any applicable Landing Fees (for charter jobs only)
The ATC Fee (for all jobs)
Stopovers
At a stopover, passengers remain on the aircraft. They do not use the terminal's arrival or departure facilities, nor do they clear customs.
Therefore, at a stopover, you are not charged Passenger Facility Charges or Customs fees. You are only charged for the aircraft's physical movement: the Landing Fee and the ATC Fee. These are billed as a standard outgoing payment when you Disembark at the stopover airport.
Watch out for Stopovers on Routes!
Landing fees are charged for all job types at a stopover, including Route Jobs. This fee is only waived for Route Jobs at their scheduled final destination as part of the slot agreement,
Job Resets & Cancellations
Fees associated with passenger boarding are fully reversible.
If you Board an aircraft (paying the Departure PFC) and then use the Unboard Aircraft button, the original departure fee payment is automatically reversed and refunded.
If you use the Reset Job function, the system will reverse all payments associated with that job, including any Departure PFC or stopover Landing/ATC Fees you have already paid.
Fee Schedule by Airport Size
Each fee is based on either the Maximum Takeoff Weight (MTOW) of the aircraft or the number of passengers, as well as the size of the airport and its economic score. Airports with a higher economic score charge more for each fee type. Additionally, larger airports with the same economic score as smaller ones charge more due to higher infrastructure costs. As the fees are dynamic, specific figures cannot be provided on this documentation page.
