Going into Debt
What is "Going Into the Red"?
A company goes into the red when its bank account balance is negative (below £0). Companies can spend more than they have, allowing temporary negative balances for expenses like recurring payments or purchases.
When Does Debt Lock Trigger?
A company is automatically locked when:
The bank balance goes negative
The negative balance reaches or exceeds the lock threshold
The lock threshold is calculated based on 20% of the company's net worth. So if a company has a net worth of 100k then the lock threshold would be met when the company has -20k in cash balance.
What Happens When a Company is Locked
The company cannot make outgoing payments
The company's jobs are hidden (not visible in job listings)
The company's routes are hidden (not visible in route listings)
The lock reason is stored: "Negative balance too low"
What Can You Do While Locked?
Receive incoming payments (which helps unlock it)
Continue operating existing jobs that were already accepted
Potentially receive money through other means
Important Notes
Lock only applies to companies (not individual users)
Lock only triggers if the company isn't already locked
The calculation uses the company's net worth at the time the payment is processed
How to Get Unlocked?
The company automatically unlocks when it receives incoming payments (e.g., job payments, money transfers) that cause the balance improves to above the unlock threshold.
The unlock threshold is calculated based on the company's net worth and a trigger percentage. Due to v2 being WIP the trigger is subject to change.
Unlock Threshold
When a company's balance moves from negative to positive- ie: above 0- they are unlocked.
