MSFS & Prepar3D

FSCharter integrates with Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS) and Prepar3D through a standalone SimConnect plugin. The plugin positions your aircraft, monitors fuel, sets payload, and tracks your flight progress in real time.

Requirements

  • Windows 10

  • Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 (MSFS) or Prepar3D v5.1

Installation

  1. Log in to your FSCharter account and click Download Plugin from the bottom-left corner of the menu bar.

  2. Extract the contents of FSCharter_SC.zip.

  3. Run FSCharter_SC.msi to install the plugin.

  4. Once installed, you’ll find the FSCharter application in the Windows Start menu.

Connecting to FSCharter

  1. Start MSFS or Prepar3D.

  2. Launch the FSCharter application from the Start menu.

  3. Wait until the menu bar displays Connected.

  4. Open Settings and log in using the same credentials as on the FSCharter platform.

Auto-login

To sign in automatically at startup, enable Save password in the Settings window. Your credentials are stored locally in an obfuscated form.

Environment

Ensure that Release (Default) is selected in the Environment drop-down within the Settings window. Other environments are used only for internal development and should not be changed.

Notes & tips

MSFS

  • Enable Software Tips: To see important FSCharter messages in-sim, enable Assistance Options > Notification > Software Tips. (Only a few messages are shown inside MSFS.)

P3D

  • Disable Pause on task switch: In P3D go to Options > General... > Application and turn off "Pause on task switch". Otherwise P3D will pause when you interact with the plugin and some features won't work.

Remote SimConnect setup

You can run FSCharter.exe on another PC and connect to the simulator over the network via SimConnect. In short:

  • On the simulator PC, configure SimConnect.xml to open a port and allow remote connections (see MSFS/P3D docs for templates).

  • Allow the configured TCP port(s) in your firewall.

  • On the client PC, place a matching SimConnect.cfg next to FSCharter.exe with the same protocol/address/port.

  • The plugin tries all available configurations starting with [SimConnect]. You can force another section by passing a number, e.g. FSCharter.exe 1 uses [SimConnect.1].

Updating

See the Updates section for details on how the plugin detects and installs updates automatically.

Known limitations

  • In MSFS, payload values applied by FSCharter may not appear in the in-sim Fuel/Payload dialogue (simulator behaviour).

  • In both MSFS and P3D, complex aircraft may require manual adjustment to achieve correct payload balance.
