Updates

Both the X-Plane and SimConnect plugins automatically notify you when a new version of FSCharter is available.

Update Notifications

SimConnect Plugin (MSFS / P3D)

When a new version is detected at startup, a prompt will appear.

• Click Download and Install to automatically download and run the installer. The plugin will close to allow installation.

• Click Download to download the installer for later use (check your Downloads folder).

X-Plane Plugin

When an update is available, you’ll be prompted in-sim. The plugin supports in-place updates directly from within X-Plane.

Platform-Specific Behaviour

Windows

Updating an active plugin requires assistance from a small PowerShell script.

1. The script waits until FSCharter.xpl can be safely overwritten.

2. You’ll see a prompt suggesting Reload Plugins — clicking this unloads all plugins in X-Plane.

3. Within about five seconds, the script replaces the plugin files and closes automatically.

4. Click Understood to reload plugins, including the updated FSCharter version.

After updating, you can safely delete the downloaded files (FSCharter.zip and InstallFSCXP.ps1) from your Downloads folder.

macOS and Linux

On macOS and Linux, plugin files are updated in place immediately. You can reload all plugins using Reload Plugins, or simply restart the simulator later to apply the update.

Reloading Plugins (X-Plane Only)

Caution: Reloading all plugins can cause issues with complex aircraft.

When you click Reload Plugins, every plugin in X-Plane is reloaded, including those tied to specific aircraft. Some complex aircraft may not fully reinitialise after a reload.

If you experience problems:

1. Temporarily load a default aircraft (for example, the C172).

2. Perform the reload.

3. Switch back to your preferred aircraft once the reload is complete.
