Operations Centres

Operations Centres

Operations Centres are the core hubs you establish at an airport to expand your charter network. In FSCharter, you may only own one Operations Centre per airport, although they can be upgraded. Their size (Micro, Small, Medium, Large, Huge) determines what kind of related facilities you can build, but you can only build Operations Centres at airports that are large enough to support them. For example, a Medium airport can support Small, Medium or Large Operations Centres, but not Micro or Huge ones; a Small airport can only have Micro or Small; a Large airport can have Medium, Large or Huge. In other words, each airport’s size limits the Operations Centre sizes it can support, and you cannot build more than one Operations Centre on the same airport.

When you buy an Operations Centre, you pay for it like any other building, and it becomes a net-worth asset for your company. Functionally, Operations Centres themselves do not provide you with any tangible benefits. Rather, they unlock the ability to build and run other facilities.

What Operations Centres Enable

  • Passenger Services: Passenger Services facilities (Small, Medium, and Large) do not require an Operations Centre. You can build one as long as the airport itself is large enough to support it. They are listed here for completeness.

  • Hangars: Operations Centres play a role for medium and larger hangars. Micro and Small Hangars have no Operations Centre requirement (only an airport size requirement). However, a Medium Hangar needs at least a Medium Operations Centre in that country, and a Large Hangar needs a Large Operations Centre in the country. A Huge Hangar is more restrictive: it requires a Huge Operations Centre at the same airport. In short, beyond Small, each bigger hangar needs a correspondingly bigger Operations Centre (and huge hangars even tie it to that airport).

  • Service Centres: All Service Centre variants require an Operations Centre at the same airport. A Small Service Centre requires at least a Medium Operations Centre there, a Medium Service Centre requires a Large Operations Centre, and a Large Service Centre requires a Huge Operations Centre.

Summary

In summary, think of Operations Centres as your regional base infrastructure. You build an Operations Centre to establish a presence at an airport. The larger the centre, the more advanced facilities it unlocks. For example, only once you have a Large or Huge Operations Centre can you put up very large hangars or service centres. Each airport has limits on what Operations Centre sizes it can host.

By understanding these dependencies, you can plan your expansion: build Operations Centres of the right size in key airports to unlock the hangars and support services you need. Operations Centres are the cornerstone of your infrastructure – they don’t directly provide value, but they let you build everything else that does.
